GWL 20th November 1916

A letter in ink!  They are few and far between.  The cigars have arrived to-day.  Not opened yet, as it is rather wet and damp.  The rain has stopped again and it is perfectly heavenly this evening.  A fog nearly all day.  I have about 20 handkerchiefs now.  When I went back to the regiment I had to lighten my kit a good deal & I gave all, except about 6, away.  Now they are mounting up again.  A new one is always nice because when washed they are always rather rags.  No ironing or anything.”

On November 19th Monastir fell to Allied Forces marking the limits of the 1916 Macedonian offensive.
