GWL 4th May 1916

Very warm just at present in this part of the world.  My new class come in a day or two  There is not a bit of news.  Cyril Windeler spent yesterday up here.  His must be rather a poor kind of life.  They have not had their anchor up since the beginning of January.  Nearly all the officers are grey headed old men – Very nice though.  Could you please send me another pair of boots & a pair of puttees.  Nisbet came along to my camp the other day; he was very well and told me that all the Christmas presents you took all the trouble to get, have turned up.  You did some jolly good work then.”

On May 1st the Irish Rebellion had collapsed.  For Cyril Windeler see April 28th.
