GWL 7th April 1916

I have had such a comical day.  The last few have been awfully busy, cleaning up the mess after the course had finished.

Our wedding day was lovely as regards weather.  I went down to Salonica & had luncheon there to commemorate the great event.

To-day I have been doing a heavy entente with the commandant of the French Machine Gun School – an effusive officer who speaks no English.  We converse through an interpreter on highly technical subjects.  He brought a crowd of officers & NCO’s to see my home.  He complimented the school on the excellence of it’s whisky & jam!  We sent him away covered in oil.

Arthur turned up to-day looking very well.  He had lunch & then went off leaving me with the French.”
